From Podcast to Pages

As much as I love making film and telling stories, one of my main goals is to help others be more successful or avoid the mistakes that I made. That was one of the chief reasons behind why I started The Producer Podcast, to provide a resource I wish I had available when I started on the producer journey. To that end I set out to author a book on producing that combined my experiences with what I was learning from guests of my show into a practical guide people could use with their next production.

After 2 years of work, I’m excited to finally release the book to filmmakers everywhere starting March 11, 2024. You can get your print copy today on Amazon, Barnes & Noble and IngramSpark to name a few or for the digital minded people you can pick up the e-book.

“It can be an ambiguous title, right?” – Josh Walsh

No truer words have ever been said about the role of a producer. In fact, many producers tell me that their families will still ask them what they do for work ten or fifteen years into their career.

But being a producer isn’t as much a career as it is a lifestyle. Everything you do throughout the production process bleeds into your personal life, from budgeting and building relationships to making family decisions.

So, if you’re looking for a book that’s more than just a step-by-step process to producing a film or a book that won’t become outdated in the next year as the industry changes, then this is the book for you. We’re diving into the principles and lifestyle of a producer that have been around for years and will continue to be around even after the next form of distribution arrives or the newest camera has become obsolete.

Because whether you produce documentaries, features, or commercials, we all live The Producer’s Life.
